Tutorpedia Foundation Benefit
This February 15 fundraiser, "For the Love of Education," by Tutorpedia features a reception, raffle, silent auction and a panel conversation on effective ways to personalize education for our students. The event is co-sponsored by SCOPE, Hewlett Packard, and Big Picture Learning. Proceeds will provide free tutoring for low-income students in the Bay Area.
The panel features:

- Linda Darling-Hammond, Charles E. Ducommun Professor, Stanford University School of Education, author of The Flat World and Education: How America's Commitment to Equity Will Determine Our Future
- Ninive Calegari, Co-Founder and Executive Director, 826 Valencia, author of Teachers Have It Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers
- Kyle Beckham, Teacher, Downtown High School, SFUSD
Tutorpedia is a state-approved Supplemental Educational Service (SES) provider. From 2007-2011, it provided more than 5,500 hours of one-on-one tutoring to more than 300 Bay Area students through SES. These services are funded through a range of supports and are free to students and their families. Tutorpedia Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, provides additional free tutoring for low-income students. Programs currently run at East Palo Alto Academy (in collaboration with Stanford New Schools), Sequoia High School (in collaboration with BUILD), and College Track.
