Rethinking Accountability to Support College and Career Readiness

This webinar, hosted by the Alliance for Excellent Education, focuses on a broader vision for accountability to support higher and deeper levels of learning for all students and to provide greater flexibility for schools and districts.

The webinar is based on a new report being released October 16 by SCOPE and the Center for Innovation in Education at the University of Kentucky. The report, Accountability for College and Career Readiness: Developing a New Paradigm, focuses on how states might construct accountability systems that assure a high-quality education for all students.

Charmaine Mercer will moderate a conversation with report authors, Linda Darling-Hammond and Gene Wilhoit and with Principal Lara Evangelista. Using an imaginary “51st state” as the model, the panelists will discuss principles for effective accountability systems, the ways in which these principles might be applied, and places where these principles are already being enacted in some states and communities. Panelists will also address questions submitted by viewers from across the country.
