Karran Harper Royal and D.J. Markey of the Pyramid Parent Talk recently discussed school privatization in New Orleans with Frank Adamson, PhD, Senior Policy and Research Analyst at the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE). Pyramid Parent Talk is a radio show airing on WBOK 1230 AM radio in New Orleans.
The show is produced by Pyramid Community Parent Resource Center and was established in 1991 to support, assist, and provide expertise to parents in traditionally underserved areas of New Orleans. Underserved communities are those communities that have become isolated due to racial and/or cultural discrimination, language barriers, geographic locations (both urban and rural) and socio-economic factors.
Frank Adamson researches the effects of different political and economic approaches to education on student experiences and their performance in schools. In the U.S., he researches the impacts of charter schools and portfolio districts on students, teachers, and communities.
