SCOPE's Rethinking Accountability conference in Washington, D.C. welcomed policymakers; school and district leaders; business, teacher, parent, and civil rights organizations; education foundations; and members of the media on June 11. It focused on three critical areas of accountability: creating accountability systems that improve education and foster meaningful learning, the intelligent and equitable use of resources to drive continuous improvement, and ensuring professional accountability and excellence for teachers and school and district leaders.
The SCOPE YouTube channel has videos of policymakers, school experts, and civil rights leaders speaking at the conference, as well as interviews with teachers, superintendents, and youth leaders from across the country. These interviews offer diverse perspectives on how schools, districts, and communities across the nation are charting new paths to student- and learning-focused accountability during this time of transition to Common Core State Standards, and how new approaches are making a difference in improving education.
