Empowered Educators: How High-Performing Systems Shape Teaching Quality Around the World is part of a landmark, international comparative study of teacher and teaching quality in the world’s top-performing education systems. 

This book from Jossey-Bass publishers is the centerpiece of the International Teacher Policy Study and is a cross-cutting analysis of seven countries' systems. The study, funded by the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) and the Ford Foundation, found that countries with high-performing school systems, create and manage a system of policies and practices that provide opportunities for teachers to learn sophisticated practices and to continue to improve.
