Over the past 40 years, societal efforts to promote children's development and academic success have expanded significantly. Most of the attention has been on improving the non-family institutions that serve children—especially the health, childcare, and education systems—and there has been far less attention to improving parenting. In this interview, Stanford Law Professor Michael Wald proposes more funding for programs such as WIC and Early Head Start so that more children can have access to a variety of programs.
This interview followed Wald's SCOPE Brown Bag Lecture: "Improving Educational Outcomes By Improving Parenting" on December 9, 2013.
